Crescent Super Band
Performing with Brian Bromberg
Twenty-two teenagers from Utah can make a lot of noise - especially when they happen to be members of the Crescent Super Band. Directed by Caleb Chapman and sponsored by the Park City Jazz Foundation, the band has stunned audiences worldwide. With a youthful energy and nearly unbelievable performance level, the band has performed hip, intelligent arrangements of the American standards for thousands. As a result, they have frequently been hailed as the top band of their type in the world.
In 8 short years the band has already been featured at many of the world’s most prestigious jazz festivals including North Sea (the Netherlands), Montreux (Switzerland), Umbria (Italy), Vienne (France), and Tuscany (Italy). The band also has a strong national presence with recent performances in Chicago, Boston, New York, and Telluride.
In 2007, DownBeat Magazine recognized the Crescent Super Band as the top young jazz band in the country. The band has also won four “Best of State” awards for Utah and the prestigious BOSS Award identifying the band as the top organization in Arts and Entertainment in Utah, beating out every other professional music group for the honor.
They've caught the attention of many of today's top artists as well. Since its inception the band has performed with well over a hundred guest artists, including GRAMMY-winners Randy Brecker, Joe Lovano, Dave Samuels, Nicholas Payton, Bob Mintzer, Brian Lynch, and Ernie Watts, to name a few. The band has released four full-length albums on the Big Swing Face Record Label, including their latest release, “Wobble”, featuring Dave Matthews Band saxophonist and multi-GRAMMY winner, Jeff Coffin.
