Organized in 2001 under the direction of Caleb Chapman, and hosted by The Music School, the award-winning Crescent Super Band has frequently been hailed as the best high school-aged jazz band in the world! Since the band's inception, the Crescent Super Band has shared the stage with GRAMMY-winners Randy Brecker, Nicholas Payton, Jeff Coffin, Dave Samuels, Eric Marienthal, Gordon Goodwin, Ernie Watts, and well over 100 other guest artists. They also recently performed with Utah Govenor, Jon Huntsman, Jr.

The band has been featured at many of the world's most prestigious jazz venues, including the North Sea Jazz Festival (in the Netherlands, the Park City Jazz Festival, and the famous NY jazz club, Dizzy's. Featured on the Main Stage at the 34th Annual Conference of the International Association of Jazz Educators in NYC, an honor usually reserved for the biggest names in jazz, they received wide industry acclaim.

2008 will be a busy year for these high school students as they will be appearing at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy, the Vienne Jazz Festival in France, the Telluride Jazz Festival in Colorado, and the Park City Jazz Festival in Utah.

In 2007, DownBeat Magazine named the band the Top Performing Arts High School big band in the country. The band also won two "Best of State" for Utah including "Best Instrumental Group".

The Crescent Super Band has released three full-length albums on the Big Swing Face record label.
